Our esteemed Development Services Department seeks an energetic, mature, customer-service focused, and collaborative individual to join our team as a Development Services Representative.
The Development Services Representative position that will provide a variety of customer service front-end support to residential, contractors, and commercial customers at our Development Services windows.
This position will also provide clerical support to the various divisions of the Development Services Department.
Key
Responsibilities:
This position is primarily responsible for completing a variety of clerical duties on a daily basis including answering telephones, greeting and assisting visitors, providing information related to the Village and the Development Services Department, forwarding information regarding complaints, scanning, data entry, maintaining files, preparing correspondence, and processing licenses and registrations.
Performing a wide variety of Building Division support includes assisting homeowners, contractors and business owners with the proper applications and inspections needed, data entry, permit entry and issuance, reading plat of surveys and calculating lot coverage.
This position also reviews and inputs inspection requests, reviews file folders, creates inspection reports, maintains department code books, processes daily mail, and maintains contractor bonds.
This position also provides supplemental support to building inspectors as related to confirmation of permit existence.
Performing other related duties to all divisions that are essential to the day-to-day operations of the department are also key responsibilities.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
A high school diploma/GED is required.
Minimum of two years of related clerical/customer service experience required.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office is also needed.
Excellent communication skills and math skills (including basic algebra and geometry) is a must.
Good business acumen, ability to read and interpret governmental regulations, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form are also required.
Adapting to new software, and retaining knowledge of many procedures and processes is critical to the accuracy and performance of the department.
Knowledge of the planning development petition process and Legistar is also required.
Compensation &

Starting hourly rate of $22.
