The Village of Orland Park is accepting applications for a part-time Telecommunicator in our Police Department.
This individual will respond to telephone inquiries and requests for fire and police services and dispatch personnel and equipment to the scene of crimes, accidents, fires, complaints and other emergencies through the use of radio, telephone and other media.
High school diploma or GED along with excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The ability to speak distinctly and effectively, multitask, maintain accuracy and confidentiality, solid interpersonal skills, and good judgment are also required. Good typing and/or computer skills are also required. Previous dispatch experience is preferred.
This position is generally an afternoon shift from 3:00pm - 11:00pm. Flexibility to work occasional daytime/overnight hours need. Will be assigned to morning and overnight shifts as needed. Position includes working some weekends and holidays.
Approximately 24-29 hours per week.
Pay rate $13.00 per hour.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
